
Andrea Vargas Kmecova, MMus
Andrea is an ambassador for a holistic approach to learning, and her teaching fosters all aspects of musical development according to every student’s needs and natural, healthy learning pace. Not just academic knowledge and mastering of pianistic skill, but nurturing the healthy, creative music-making and love for playing the piano in every student.
Andrea has been teaching piano for over twenty-five years, and her teaching delivers excellent results in grade exams and auditions. Andrea enjoys sharing the art of playing the piano through Piano Maestros tuition, concerts and events. She also works as a peripatetic piano teacher at the private independent school in Sundridge, Radnor House Sevenoaks.
Alongside a busy teaching schedule, Andrea works as a solo and collaborative pianist and church organist. Her concert schedule is based mainly in London and the South East, while performing for Cunard, SAGA, P&O and Fred Olsen cruise ship audiences have taken her literally around the world. In London, Andrea worked as an accompanist at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Junior Trinity College of Music in Greenwich. She regularly plays for the Take Note Choir based in Blackheath and is the resident organist at St James Church of England, Kidbrooke. She is also the resident pianist at the Clarendon Hotel in Blackheath, where she plays most Sunday afternoons.
Originally from Slovakia, Andrea is a graduate of the National Music Conservatoire in Kosice and the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She continued her training in London at Trinity College of Music in Greenwich. She has also earned a Professional Diploma in Group Sound Arts Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy, and is exploring further the pathway of therapeutic piano lessons and events.
Andrea is a highly accomplished pianist who has a gift for teaching music to a very high level. My playing has improved beyond recognition in the time I have been with her.

Andrea teaches in Blackheath (lessons in students’ home) on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and in her piano studio in Charlton, SE7 on Wednesday mornings. Currently there is no availability for lessons after school in her studio, waiting list only.
