Educational Event on African Music

Educational Event on African Music

The Spring end-of-term concert, organised in collaboration with The African Concert Series, was a unique event in which we learned a lot about the African culture through its music with the award-winning Nigerian-Romanian pianist Rebeca Omordia.

Our students Astrid, Amelie and Charlotte, learned and performed a piano piece written by an African composer. Here they are with a certificate of participation signed by the Patron of the series, world-renowned cellist and educator Julian Lloyd Webber.

Congratulations!

Due to lockdown restrictions, it was an online event and we have a short video from the concert created for us by Fourchiefs Media Productions.

WE RECOMMEND

If you are interested in learning some African music, we recommend Piano Music of Africa and the African Diaspora books published by Oxford University Press.

Currently sold on Amazon, they come in five volumes, ranging in difficulty from intermediate to advanced piano level. Here’s a brilliant review of these books by Pianodao.

You can also visit our Student Portal, where we uploaded African music that has not yet been published, provided by The African Concert Series London.
